About Endometriosis & Me

Endometriosis & Me is a personal blog created and maintained by a Stage IV Aggressive Recurring Endometriosis & Adenomyosis Survivor.

The Endometriosis section of this blog is part personal journey, part research and part support.  There is survival after Stage IV Endo, the shape that survival takes is entirely up to you.

Onagh has suffered from Endometriosis and the long term side effects for the treatment of Endometriosis for over 30 years.  In 1998, the disease took  a brutal turn for the worse, in what would become the defining moments of three decades of Endometriosis Treatment. Disheartened by the lack of information or support from the Medical Community, Onagh set out on a very personal journey of healing. She participated in as many awareness campaigns and support groups, both virtual and local, to bring clarity to the disease and a cure that would work for her.

After months of research, Onagh’s journey resulted in a radical hysterectomy at the age of 32 performed at the Cedars Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles California.  It was due to the active engagement Onagh took to addressing her treatment that her battle with Endometriosis is in remission.

Despite her battle with Endometriosis, Onagh enjoys a successful career as an Information Technology Program Manager across broad industries.  Onagh is an Energetic Healer, a Spiritual Minister and a Small Business Owner.  Onagh is also a successful Network Marketing Professional, having established a small Distributorship in 1999 with Young Living Essential Oils.

Onagh Hopke (Levy) has had an Internet presence since 1994.  Her first Blog entered the net in 1998 with a series of custom web pages focused on her on going battle with Endometriosis, hosted on the now closed Xoom and Flashcom.

By the late summer and fall of 1998, Onagh had become seriously ill due to complications with Stage IV Chronic Endometriosis.  During her time of illness, she self taught HTML Hand Coding, and VBA for Applications, and focused her studies on the creation of web pages designed for Blogs and Personal Home Pages.
The pages remained active on the internet from 1999 through 2008.  Along the way, the Blog expanded in 2003 to MySpace and again in 2006 to MSN Spaces, where it was re-labeled The Jamaica Inn (Excuse Me While I Collect Myself).  Finally in 2010, the entire 12 years of Blog History was consolidated at The Jamaica Inn at WordPress.com.It was during this time that Ona’s Library, along with the Endometriosis Blog, was established at Yahoo GeoCities, formerly www.geocities.com/girleegeek

During that same period, 1999 to 2010, Onagh’s Web Footprint and Social Network expanded to include FacebookTwitterNing and LinkedIn.

As of 2011, the Endometriosis Pages cried out for their own home.  The Jamaica Inn had grown in size and scope to the point where lines were blurred and topics muddled.  So to preserve the focus and give Endometriosis the attention it deserves, a new Blog is Born.
